STABLES BURNED DOWN.
ROBBERY DURING EXCITEMENT.
MORRiNSVILLEa Jan. 8. • Advice has been received by the police that an outbreak of fire occurred m the stables connected with the Putaruru Hotel. The stables, were used as a storeroom and a ■large quantity ot liquor was- lost. During the excitement caused by the fire an entry was. made into a grocery store and a cash-box, containing £7O in cash and a number of cheques, was stolen. The box and the cheques were recovered near-by soon afterwards.
