ACCIDENTS. & FATALITIES
Two boys (Eric ami Alfred Knuckey), of Gilliam, were seriously injured on Tuesday night through colliding with a gig while proceeding home on a motor-cycle Both were rendered unconscious. At Inglewood on Thursday an old-age and military pensioner, Charles McDeveu, ■ aged 86 years, was found dead at his home, where Constable Longbottom found tlie circumstances pointed to the man having committed suicide by hanging himself. McDevett, who was a well-known figure in Inglewood, was single, and is believed to have no relatives in the district. He suffered a stroke in 1918 and since then Inis been in poor health. An inquest was held by Mr T. A. B. Bailey,' the coroner, and a verdict was returned that McDevett committed suicide by hanging himself w'hile temporarily in a state of unsound mind. TWO MOTOR-CARS COLLIDE. MORRINSVILLE, Jan. 8. A collision between two rnotox.-cars occurred yesterday near the top of Kaimai Hill on the Taurauga road, about 15 miles from'Matamata. Though both cars con-/ tained passengers, no one was injured. The cars wore seriously damaged, and were unable to proceed on the journey. One car was owned by Mr F. C. Warner, of Morrinsville" and was driven by Mr H. Warner. The other one was owned by Messrs Griffiths and Stanley, of Matamata, and was driven by Mr F. Morrow.
