NEW FRUIT DISEASE.
TAURANGA ORCHARDS AFFECTED,

What is considered a. new disease, has mado its appearance in local orchards, giving fruitgrowers some concern. The Agricultural Department's officials at Wellington, after examining specimens, think the disease might be Brown Rot, and have advised growers as to temporary treatment, but they have made no definite pronouncement, as an expert is not at present available to make a thorough investigation. Pear trees principally arc affected, in some orchards seriously. Apple trees also havo been attacked, os'peeialy at the Government, horticultural station, and pearhes are slightly affected. Orchardifts feel tho matter demands prompt attention by the Government.
