FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
The first of tho regular meetings for the year of the Loyal Manawatu Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., was held fast evening. N.G. Bro. S. Wright presided. Dr. Putnam wrote resigning his position as one of tho medical officers of the Lodge, and in accepting same it was decided to thank the doctor for his past services. It was resolved to forward a resolution of sympathy to tho wife and family of the Into Bro. L. S. Do Cleone, and in honour of hii memory the Lodge was draped in black. B.P.G.M. Bro. H. Sharman, ou bohalf of the Lodge, extendod a hearty welcome to Bro. D. T. Dilks, who recently returned from the front. In reply, Bro. Dilks stated that he was pleased to ho with thorn once again. V.G. Bro. R. S. Watson resigned from his position as V.G., and Bro. D. T. Dilks was elected to hold tho office. LP.N.G. Bro. T. Bruce installed the new V.G. and Bro. 11. Sharman acted as conductor. It was resolved that a meeting of office-bearers of tho Lodge be held next Tuesday night. Tho auditors' report and the quarterly balance sheet were road and adopted, and the annual returns showed the sick and funeral fund as having a credit balance of £7170 7s 7d, while the other funds were also upon a good financial basis.
