While no precedent exists for the temporary appointment of visiting Royalty as a Governor-General, the Colonial Office views sympathetically a suggestion that the Prince of Wales should act for a short period in Australia. If this could be arranged with the King’s approval, it would afford a unique opportunity for the Prince and a graceful compliment to Australia, but it is pointed out that New Zealand is jointly concerned in the visit.
