TRANS-PACIFIC FLIGHT.
BRITISH ARE TO COMPETE,

It is understood that Major D. A. Yarnold, tho R.F.C. British “ aee,” who was on route to .Australia, has cancelled his journey and is to enter the service of the Vickers* Company and make arrangements for a transpacific flight from Australia to San Francisco.
A special Vickers’ Viking machine is being built at Weybridge (England). The flight is dependent on the permission of tho War Office.
ROSS SMITH’S FLIGHT.
Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. BRISBANE, Jan. 6. Sir Ross Smith’s party is visiting the city. Tho members had an enthusiastic reception.
It is hoped that tho machine will be repaired in a fortnight, when they will fly to Brisbane, and thence to Sydney,

The correspondent of tho Times at Pekin states that 11 Chinese participated in official Handloy-Puge endurance flights. They were all delighted with Jheir experience except one, who became ill. * ,
