TRAMWAY EMPLOYEES.
CONFERENCE AT CHRISTCHURCH
Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 4. A bic meeting of tramway employees was hold this morning, when the recent abortive conference at Wellington was exhaustively discussed. The business done was not disclosed, but speaking to a reporter at the close of the mooting Mr Armstrong, secretary of the Union, said it consisted of u discussion of the steps the Union would have to take in the event of a satisfactory agreement not being arrived at in the near future. “ What about the rumour that the men are going to strike?” asked the reporter. “ We have not even discussed that so far, and I need hardly say, as far as I am concerned at any rate, that is the last thing we want to be driven to,’’•'was Mr Armstrong’s reply.
