Special interest was taken in tho New South Wales 220 yards swimming chainoionship owing to Ross, the American Champion, competing. The race resulted: Ross 1, Kirkland 2, pongworth 3. Though he has not .yet had time to strike full form, Ros9 won easily by throe yards, in 2mm 23 4.sscc. Kirkland beat Longworth by lialf a vard . - ' SYDNEY, Jan., 4. Tho 100 yds hack-stroke swimming chdmpionship of New South Wales was won by Beck in linin’ 16 4-ssec.
