FUTURE OF CRICKET.
GLOOMY OUTLOOK.
BURDEN OF ENTERTAINMENT TAX.
LONDON, Dec. 9. Cricket authorities are perturbed re- j gard.ing the future of cricket. Mr Lacy, secretary of the M.C.C., was informed, at a meeting of county representatives that it was inevitable that a majority of the counties would be gradually compelled to shut down if the entertainment tax was continued in its present' form. ■ The M.C.C. believes that the tax can bj successfully resisted by .the issue ot members' tickets, but has not. yet reached a conclusion, and is at present circularising the county clubs.
