The late -Mr Alexander Burt, of Dunedin, death! was reported yesterday, was born m Stirlingshire; Scotland, and up-to the I 'engineering trado in Glasgow. He wept out to Melbourne in 1858, and two years lator was attracted to Otago by the rush',to the gold diggings, Gabriel's Gully.- In'the following year (1862). h'e settled in Dunedin, and with his brother, the late Mr Thomas Burt, established; the" engineering works which are well "known throughout New Zealand. He was. formerly a-member of the Dunedin City. Council, and of the Otago Harbour Board.
