THE PRESENT POSITION. The latest completed official counts in tho licensing poll have further reduced tho combined Cojitinuanco-Stato Purchase majority against Prohibition. Tho figures available last night from official sources and Press Association reports (states to-day’s Dominion) make tho totals approximately as follow: Continuance 234,907 State Purchase 31,244 Prohibition 264,309 Majority against Prohibition 1,842

The number of votes covered by these figures is 530,460. The votes required to constitute an absolute majority of this total iwould be 265.231. The Prohibition total falls short of this number by 922 votes. The number of votes still to bo included, comprising absentee votes, seamen’s votes, arid soldiers’ votes, is believed to be in the neighbourhood of 12,000. This total includes about 1000 soldiers’ votes.
