SPORTING.
MARION MEETING. It is almost unnecessary to remind sportsmen of the Marton Jockey Club’s mooting, to bo held to-morrow and concluded on Saturday. Trains leave Palmerston North station at 8.50 and 9.10 a.m. Of the eight appearing in the Hurdles’ list, Hautawu and Hushabyo will claim most attention, while in the Dash. Ruddy may l>o the hardest to boat. In the Juvenile.. All Cerise (7.12) appears nicely placed. Punka will go out favourite for the Cup, but Oratress, who is ip line' form just now, will trouble whatever wins. Arfmyra may ho hard to settle in the Railway, though Ruddy (7.13), if reserved for this raCo, would boat more than beat him. In the other events Railand, Ermine and St. Omer • should rim prominently.
Mr Jus. MeTuggart, a well-known horseman in years gone by, and who resided in Palmerston North for a number of years, vus in town a few days ago renewing old acquaintances. After visiting .Christchurch Mr McTnggart. who is accompanied by his wife, will return to Australia.
