A Sydney cablegram states that Sir Charles Wade has been appointed a Supreme Court judge. ; The ct. ith is announced of Sir William Osier, Professor of Medicine, ac Oxford, England Mr J. A Sydney cable states that Mr Denis Gaynor Darcy has been appointed Com-ptroller-General of Prisons in succession to the late Mr Samuel McCauley. Captain Bruce Morison has been appointed Assistant ’ Resident Secretary in Uganda. Captain Morison. who is a son of Mr C. B. Morison,- K.C., of Wellington, saw service during tho war, being wounded on three occasions.

Through (ho American Consul, Sir James Allen (Minister for Defence) has received a letter from !ho city clerk of Norfolk, Virginia, acknowledging New Zealand’s appreciation of courtesies extended by citizens of Norfolk to New Zealand troops. The city clerk writes:—“l beg to assure you that it was it privilege and a pleasure on the part of our, people to have had a part in contributing in nuy manner to the comfort of men who in the great struggle had such a prominent part in fighting the battles ot the whole civilised world for its security and liberty. It is now our great joy to congratulate you upon the triumph of your years of struggle, and the vindication ot your righteous convictions and to wish for them and for you the blessings of peace.”
