The next meeting of importance to local sjiortsmen is the Marten Jockey Club’s .summer fixture, to bo hold on the Marten course on Thursday and Friday, January 1 and 2. Mr Arthur Way (secretary) reports that the track, which plays _ so_ important a part in galloping events, is in first-class order, and as the acceptances are good all round, some excellent s|s>rt should be wit nossed. Trains leave Palmerston North on both days at 8.50 and 9.10 a.m., —and leave Marten on tho return journey at 5.20 and 5.43 p.m.
