There are no developments in the marine engineers' strike, which has placed one hundred thousand tons oi shipping idle in Sydney and Melbourne. HOBART, Dec. 29. Leading importers have agreed to confine imports to vessels owned by the Shaw, Savill and Albion line and the New Zealand Shipping Company, under a penalty of ten shillings per ton for diverted cargo, provided tbe pre-war fortnightly Hobart and London service is resumed, If the companies will not agree to give a satisfactory service business will be offered; to the Commonwealth Government liue. MELBOURNE, Doc. 29. The new licensing law operates from February Ist. It closes bdliard rooms and temperance bars at six o'clock in the evening, unless a special permit is obtained.:-.':.- ;
