PITIABLE SPECTACLE.
LEEDS BANDIT IN DOCK. i REDFERN CREATES SCENE. LONDON, Dec. 15. v Alfred Rcdfdrn, the motor bandit, presented a pitiable spectacle whon facing a charge of murder and robbery at Leeds. Ho was carried into the dock, quivering, and unable to stand, and stared trancelike, listening to the preliminary evidence When tho robbery was described ho leaped to his feet and roared "No" in a choking voice, and then collapsed on to the floor in a semi-conscious stato. His action startled the court.
The polico gave evidence that Redfern, before his arrest, had arranged to leave for the Continent, accompanied by a woman named Hopkins. Their luggage had been packed and their passports taken. Hopkins had since handed over to the polico £374.
GUILTY OF MURDER. « LONDON, Deo. 17. Tho coroner's jury found Redfern guilty of murder. A witness, Hawkins, gave evidence that Redfern was ofteii irresponsible, and terribly excitable. Sometimes it was necessary for six persons to hold him down.
