MEDAL AWARDS.
ADMIRAL SIMMS’ STRICTURES. By Electric, Telegraph.—-Copyright. Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. WASHINGTON, Dec. 23. Admiral Sims has written a letter to Mr Josephus Daniels (Secretary of the Navy), refusing to accept a distinguished service medal on tho ground that other naval officers have been inadequately. rewarded. The letter points out, that tho Navy Department has awarded honours in many instances contrary to las (Admiral Sims’) recommendations. Both the Senate and tho Houso Naval Committees have suggested an enquiry into tho medal awards given to those in the naval service.
