PRAISE FOR A.I.F.
UNDAMAGED; MANSIONS. LONDON, December 2. As a result of tile concentration at Horseferry road 35 buildings have been given up by the A.I.F. f The authorities praise the West/Australian officer- Major L. A, Withall, who handed over the premises, including the mansions of the Duke of Buecleiich and Lord Barnard. Both mansions contained valuable statuary and hand-painted tapestried walls, and these were entirely tree from barrack damages when handed back. The Commonwealth up to the present is not liable for one penny repairs, cither in London or the training camps. , There is a likelihood that Horse-ferry road will eventually be taken over by the War Office as tl:e headquarters of the London district. ' The Wesicyans (who previously occupied the buildings) prefer that their now training college should bo located in the eouiitry. In that event the barrack damages will also be wiped out.
