Tho ballot of the Sydney branch of tho Marino Engineers' Association rejected tho Shipping Controller's terms of settlement by a largo majority. * ,° . SYDNEY. Dec. 21. Tho sailing of tho Riverina, which was fixed for to-morrow, has again been postponed owing to tho engineers' trouble. CHARGES AGAINST ENGINEERS. DEADLOCK AT BRISBANE. Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. Received December 22, 9.15 a.m. SYD.NEY, Dec. 22. Five engineers on the s'teamer St. Albans were charged with breaches of the Merchant Shipping Act by refusing to proceed to sea. ~ , ~,, __ Tho cases have been adjourned till December 23. the men having decided to work tho ship and as the owners stated m that event they would withdraw tho prosecutions. The owners will confer with the Institute of Engineers on Monday next with a view to reaching a settlement. ,;_••'_. _, BRISBANE. Dec. 22. A deadlock has been reached in the negotiations with the marine engineers.
