Vustralian-New Zealand Cable Association Received December 20, 8.50 a.m. . DUBLIN, Dec. 19. An attempt was made to assassinate the Viceroy in Phoenix Park. A civilian who killed the Viceroy’s assailant was also killed. Lord French was uninjured.
DETAILS OF THE ATTEMPT,
Australian-New Zealand Cable Association Received December 20, 11,35 a.m, LONDON, Dec. 18. A determined attempt was made to kill Viscount French while he was passing through Phoenix Park; Several Sinn Feiners were engaged in the affair. They fired a number of bullets, of which two passed through Lord French's motor car, one wounding a cyclist policeman who was • escorting Lord French. The military escort returned the fire and shot one of the attackers, who was carrying a bomb. There is intense excitement in Dublin. Received December 20, 11.20 a.m. LONDON. Dec. 19. A policeman was wounded during the attack on Lord French at Dublin.
