The Feilding Star reports the death of.au old resident, of Kaiigiwahia, in the person of Mr Michael. L. O’Connor, at the age of 47 years. Mr .C. Poulsen, formerly of this town, and now a member of the editorial stall' of the Auckland Star, was a visitor to Palmerston' to-day. The death occurred in Wanganui on Sunday evening of Mrs J. D. Quinn at. the gge of 64 years. Tho deceased lady had been a resident of Wanganui for many years. Miss V. McPherson, of the staff of C’ollinsou and Cunniiighume, who has left, to take up a position in New Plymouth, was the recipient on Saturday of a presentation from the workroom staff. The death under very tragic circumstances took place at Napier yesterday, of Mrs McGibbon. wife of Mr C. McGibbon, manager of the Bank of New South Wales, Dannevirke. Tho deceased lady had only recently returned from a trip to tho South Island. She had been in ill-health for some time past and had gone to Napier to recuperate. During tho morning she was missed from the l hotel she was staying at and later her body was found at the foot of the high bluff overlooking the breakwater. It is presumed that a fit of dizziness overtook Mrs .McGibbon, consequent upon her state of Health, and this resulted in the fall. Very sincere sympathy will lie felt for Mr McGibbon. A while ago a son was killed in action. At u meeting of the Dannevirke Chamber of Commerce last night a. sympathetic vote was passed to.Mr McGibbon in his loss. Special reference was made to tho part the late Mrs MeGibIkiii had played in tho life ol the community, and more especially in patriotic work.
