At a meeting of the committee ol the Canterbury Sbeopowners’ Union, held on the Showgrounds to-day, a motion was adopted recommending all members to adhere to the present aware' rates of, pay to shearers and shed hands. It was agreed to send copies ot the resolution to the other Sheepowners’ Unions of the Dominion. A motion was' carried expressing the strongest dissatisfaction at the amount of shipping space allotted to the South Island since July 31 last, and a committee was appointed to convey to the Prime Minister, the resentment felt on the matter by the producers. Jt was further agreed to take such steps to forward the interests ot the South Island in the equitable allotment of shipping spare as the committee considered necessary.
