TO-DAY'S'MEETING The monthly • meeting of the Palmerston North Hospital ami Charitable Aid Board was held to-day. The [nspoetor-Ocneral also wrote that the architects had been in communication with Dr. Fiengloy and himself with regard to the proposed extensions at tlie hospital, and he. hoped to be in a position to e/ivc a lull report on tho matter shortly.—Received. Mr Nash said ho thought that the ollice should he notified immediately to reinstate tlie loan, as the Hoard might lose, it altogether. With the hum secured, it could be augmented by applying for further loans: but the present loan should certainly not be cancelled.

It was decided to act on Mr Nash's suggestion.

.Miss M. J. Glassou, Greymoufh. forwarded an application for a. position as probationer at the Palniorston Hos-pital.--To be added probationers' list. The Wanganui 11. and C,A. Board wrote that the agreement between that Board and the Palmcrston Board as to the treatment of patients in tho respective hospitals be continued.—Received. The Kairanga County Council forwarded a cheque for. C 875 IGs -Id, being the second iiustalinent of the maintenance lev y. —.l? eta :i ved ■ THE DENTAL WARD.

Mr 'i'. G. Stopk'well, secretary of the Palmers ton branch of the N\Z. Dental Association, wrote in reply to the Hoard regarding the establishment of a denial ward at the lTalmW's'tott. North hospital. The letter stated that it was resolved to support the establishment of such a ward, and certain members ivere selected to confer with the Buildin-- Committee and the doe-tors when convenient. The, Association also decided that whilst it would do its best to support the dental ward, the .services ol :the dentists should not be entirely honorary. A small honorarium should bo granted. Dr. WhUiVkcr said if the meeting between the Building Committee and the Denial Association were arranged the whole matter could he discussed, and some- arrangement come to. On Dr. Whitaker's motion, it was decided that the meeting be convened for November 19.

Mr 0. H- Taplin also wrote as follows:—*'l understand your Hoard has passed certain resolutions in connection with a dental department at the hospital, and considering I am senior dental surgeon to the hospital. 1 think that it- was only a fair thing to consult Mr liarman and myself before running into print. I therefore beg to tender my resignation." , Dr. Whitakor'said the over-sight had been his, and he had written Mr Taplin explaining the matter. Mr Nash said Mr Taplin had rendered excellent service at the hospital as honorary dentist, and repeatedly travelled to the hospital at his own expense. On Mr Nash's motion it was decided to ask Mr Taplin to reconsider his decision to resign.
