NEW ZEALAND CUP MEETING. (Pub Press AbsooiationJ SOCKBURN, Nov. 5. The spring meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club opened in beautiful weather with a big attendance. The going was good. Results : Spring Hurdles.—Compulsion 1, Don Francisco 2, Portland Lady 3. All started. Compulsion led all the way and won by three lengths, a head separating second and third. Naupata and Crib fell Time, 3.45 4-5. Spring Plate— Nanna 1, Rude 2. Blackall 3. Scratched—Blackheath, Imaribbon I'looinine, Johnny Walker, Missouri, Kitrush. Nanna was in front at the distance and won by three lengths, two lengths separating second and third. Time. 1.40 35. Linwood Handicap.--White King 1, Subterfuge 2, Spangle 3. Scratched—Van bubhe, Te Anau, Honrictte. Won by half it head. Time. 1.27 3-5. Cup.—Menelaus 1, Johnny Walker 2, Snub 3.
