HER ACT OF VENGEANCE.
At the Old Hailey, London, before M r Justice Lawrence, Annie (’oilman (2‘J) lailoross, pleaded guilty to throw - inn corrosive acid, and was sentenced to three months’ hard labour. It was .stated that she was a Russian, and her lather a New York clergyman. She Ix'came acquainted with a married man, and lived with him. Ho tired ol her, and subsequently she threw a quantity of vitriol over him, burning bis taco and arms. Prisoner said that the man I betrayed her, and she became desper- ■ ale. The judge said that he sympathised with the woman. It was a great provocation, but one which had been endured by other women with fortitude.
