NEW ZEALAND AYRSHIRE CATTLE BREEDERS.

A meeting of the above Association was held last evening at the A. and P. Association's rooms. Mr Carter (president) was in the chair, and there-was a fair attendance of members. The following motion, a recommendation from the previous meeting, proposed bv Mr Webb, and seconded by Mr W.Hall, was discussed:—That the entries for the Derby Competition be for animals horn between Ist July and :10th November in each year: that in addition to a lull description to be given a photo of the right .side of the animal shall also he attached to the application; that entry fees be 10s lor each animal up to throe entries iron) one individual, and (.'1 per animal for any additional entries; the entries for I he first competition to close on November 30, 1017; competition to be held two years hence at Show where gold medal championship meeting is then held, future competitions to be run in the same order. That the whole of entry money he allocated in prizes as fol-lows-.--Ist and 2nd prizes each f>o pel' cent, of entry money ; 3rd prize, 20 per cent, of entry money; 4th, 15 per cent. of entry money; sth, 5 per cent, of entry money. The recommendation was thoroughly discussed by those present, and the general opinion was that the holding of the Derby was not conducive to the best interests of the breed. The motion was then put and lost, two only voting for it. Mr Carter was appointed a delegate to represent the Association at the forthcoming conference of breeders with the Board of Agriculture.
