GERMANS ORGANISING BASER Received November 2, 1.20 p.m. PETROGRAD, Nov. 1. The Germans have completely evacuated the Werder Peninsula after devastating the whole area. They are organising strong bases on Oesel and Dago Islands, with a view to seizing Reval. This accounts for the lull in tin- Baltic operations. FRENCH AIR RAIDS. Received November 2. 1.20 p.m. LONDON. Nov. 1. A French communique says:—We raided the lines in various districts, inflicting serious losses. U.S. LOAN TO ENGLAND. Received November 2. 8.55 a.m. WASHINGTON, Nov. 1. The United States has loaned England 435 million dollars. LABOUR SOCIALIST AS PEER. Received November 2, 11.10 a.m. AMSTERDAM, Nov. 1. Herr Stegorwadd has lieen made a member of the Prussian House of Peers, being the first labour representative in that Chamber. ■
