The Council of this association met at the secretary's office. Palmerston North, on Wednesday, October 51. when there were present: '.Messrs B. C. Banks (Matamaia). (President, in the chair). C. O. merston N.!. Apologies were received from Messrs. G. Aitchison (Kaitangata) and J. 11. Parkinson (Opotiki). It was resolved — That in all sales published in sale catalogues it must he specifically stated whether such record; are semi-official or private. That, the matter of registering cattle which have gone over the time allowed in the conditions of entry could not be reopened. That, a geld medal be allotted to tho cow winning the South Island Challenge Cup each year. That a challenge enp (to be accompanied by gold medal) bo allotted to North Island (to be won twice in succession or three times ai intervals, the first competition for the cup to be at the next Dannevirke A. and P. Show); other annual competitions to be at Auckland, Taranaki, and Palmerston in the order named. That similar prizes be allotted for bull, to be competed for in succession as above. That, the association vcill refund £1 Is for every cow over six, the property of one owner, which qualifies under semi-official test in one year; that where a cow or heifer gives 60Clbs fat, under semi-official conditions, the owner be donated £5. 7001bs fat £lo.'Boolbs £2O; that where any animal which doubles its standard production. £5 be allotted and also bo eligible for above ini/.es; the above to apply to cows or heifers which have stated their test since 31st May, 1917, and onward. That the association approves of the endeavour of the Board of Agriculture to form a Breeds Association. Mr Jas. Hart. Raumati, Dannevirke, was appointed an official judge. The following herd names were approved:—Balfour, D. McDonald; Springdale, G. Gadsbv: Sunnyhursi, F. Smidley; Bonny Dooii, A. Dahlonburg; Fairview, Mrs T. E. F. Hardwick. An entry which did not comply with the standard markings and type was rejected. SPECIAL MEETING.

Mr A. J. Oallichan wrote, ollermg a diver challenge oup and live gold medals (to cover live years) for the cow or heifer giving the most butter-fat with twice a day milking only under the following conditions: lie cup, value ten guineas, to be known as the. Oallichan challenge cup, to be inscribed with the name of winner, etc., to be won outright bv the same cow securing it twice in succession or the same owner winning it three times not necessarily with the same animal.
