RONGOTEA SIDING CHEESE FACTORY.

(From Oon Own CoebespokdEN'T.) The Glen Orona Co-operative Dairy Company have erected a new cheese factory at tlongotoa siding. In order to celebrate (he opening ;: dinner was held yesterday. There was a very largo attendance of district residents, iibout ninety persons being present. The factory is a lour-vat cheese iac : tory, unci is situated close to the Kongotea siding, on the Sandou-Foxton tram lino. The site, was given by Mr I'. \V. Dixon, and is mi ideal one for the purpose, li. is not only in a location that saves cartage (as the msumfa.clurcd article can bo placed on the trucks from the factory), but its position is such that discharged soldiers who have be-e'ti placed on the Makowhai settlement* can send their mill; to it. A good, service:i'llr- plafii ii;i been installed, and the new factory will lie a considerable advantage to the di trict. A very capable managi.'r, in the person of Mr. Met'arm, who has had considorublo experience in the industry, lias been appointed. The catering for the dinner was in the capable hands of the ladies, whose efforts were much appreciated by those present. Mi ('. Reeve, of Carnarvon, who acted as chairman, proposed the toast of "The King," and the National Anthem was sung. The toast of "The Returned Soldiers" was proposed by Air \V. Y. Smith, who spoke of the readiness of the oldest settlers to rentier assistance to newcomer.-. Mr Torstonson, in an appropriate speech, referred to the speed with wl;!ch the factory was erected, it having been put up in almost record time. Representatives of the directors—Messrs .]. A returned soldier, Mr Stevens, made a very pood speech in proposing tho toast of "The Ladies," and he highly complimented the ladies on the result of their labours.
