NGAURUHOE ACTIVE.
(Per Pbess Association.) AUCKLAND. Oct. 31. A correspondent of the Herald at Waimarino reports that though heavy rain has obscured Ngaruhoe since Saturday, frequent detonations indicate that the mountain is still in a state of greatt activity. Earth tretuors are frequent, and at times a strong smell of sulphur is noticeable, A warder at the main camp on the prison department's road construction worka states that early yesterday morning, though ihe summit of "the volcano was hidden, huge volumes of black smoke were visible for a few moments, rising to a great, height, due )f the most startling of the explosions was heard at 10.30 this morning",
