Replying to Mr Wright, the Minister tor Defence said that Hie Government had made provision for the men who had joined the. Motor Patrol Service so far as pensions and provisions for (heir wives, and children were concerned, hut it could not see its wav to go so iar as to raise the pay of single men in’ the New Zealand level, nor could thev go so far as to extend financial assistance to men of that service. Replying 10 Mr Wilford, the Minister foi Defence said that as a general rule, men who had final leave, but who were not toady to depart, had been allowed to return M iheir homes without, pay to participate in farm Work. ...
