It is announced that the world wheat. crop, excluding Russia,_ is _ 1,775,000,000 bushels, which is only eighty-five per cent of the amount in normal times. CANADA INCREASES PENSIONS 40 PER CENT. Received October 29, 8.35 a.m. _OTTA\VA. Oct. 28. An Order-in Council announces increases in soldiers and bailors' pensions' of approximately 40 per cent. The Government is now paying about one million sterling. MUNITIONS WORKS DESTROYED. Received October 29. 8.35 a.m OTTAWA, Oct, 28. An explosion destroyed the Canada Explosives Company's works, the loss being estimated at £400,000 sterling.
