MANAWATU SHOWGROUNDS.
TO DE FREE FROM RATES. (Fhon Oob Pakliamentaht Reporter I WELLINGTON Oct, 24. A clause in tho Washing-up Bill, introduced to-night, exempts the Palmerston North Showgrounds from general rates. The corporation is to be entitled to (ho free use of the Showgrounds and buildings for municipal, charitable and religious purposes on thirty days during each year, and provision is- made for tho representation of the Borough Council on tho Agricultural and Pastoral Association. The Association must not charge sports clubs in the Manawatu district more than ton per cent of gross takings for flic use of the grounds.
