NEW ATTACK DEVELOPED.
FRENCH MAKE CONSIDERABLE PROGRESS. Received October 24. 12,55 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 23. A French communique says; —After artillery preparation for several days w at. tacked at 5.15 this morning the powerful German organisations'in the region of Allenient and Malmaison. Wo considerably progressed along the entire front of the attack. We took many prisoners.
WHAT THE FRENCH SAY. Australian-New Zealand Cable Associntion. _ LONDON, Oct. 23. A French communique says:—During the day the enemy artillery leas been feebly active. In Belgium our troops have consolidated their positions on the conquered ground. North of Veldhoek, in an attack this morning, two field guns wore captured. The artillery struggle is violent in the Epine-de-Chevrigny and Pantheon sectors, and in the Corny region. There are fairly lively artillery action at Avocourt wood and north of Chautnc wood. Between October 11 and 20. nineteen enemy machines and three balloons were brought down, and twenty-eight aeroplanes were seriously damaged. j
