A FATAL COLLISION.
BOY KILLED IN BROAD STREET. A fatal accident occurred at about 12.3 C to-day iii Broad street, when a boy namcr Francis William . Vallars, aged 10 of No. 14, Pinion street. was knocked ■ oft' bis bicycle through coming into collision with a motor eui and injured so seriously that ho expired almost, immediately. It appears thai the deceased was riding his bicycle down Broad street, with a companion? sitting on tie handlebars, .and this obscured his vision of tin.' road. A motor car. proceeding in the opposite direction, and driven by Mr F. Hoult, of Feilding, met the bovs nearly opposite the Post. Office Hotel." The cyclist evidently swerved his machine in front of the car, and was knocked off and run over. The Iwy on the handle-bars jumped clear and managed to escape unhurt. The injured boy was picked up by Constable Lipsoombe, and was carried into J.lie Post Office Hotel. Medical aid was .summoned, but the,boy expired almost immediately.
