INFANTICIDE.

(Psb Press Association.) DTJN'KIMN, Oct. 18. An inquest on the body of an infant found in a suit case in a chemists shop on September '22 nd, and in connection with which a single young woman, .Mary Walcler. .is charged with murder, was held to.-day„ Tlw evidence showed that the girl, who bad boon in domestic service in l>uncdin, went home lo Lawrence on September 17th, returning; to Dunodin on September 22nd with her mother, and bringing the .suit case with her. The mother was not aware of the birth of the child until her daughter had been visited by a doctor on September 22nd. Medical evidence was given to the. (dl'eet that death was due to asphyxia and that with the exercise of ordinary care the child would have lived. The depositions of an inquest, held on .May 29th, 1916, on the body of a child of the same woman were put in. A verdict that death was due to asphyxia was returned.
