A STAGGERING ESTIMATE. Zealand Cable Association. Received October 17. 10.5 a.m. NEW YORK, Oct. 16. Tho New York World’s Washington correspondent says,tho United States is paying forty million dollars daily, or one-fourth of tho’cost of the war. America’s expenditure is tho highest, Britain’s second, and Germany’s third. . An authoritative statistical estimate places tho total cost up to August, 1918, at 155 billion dollars.
