Clements raid that- on retuniiii'r to New Zealand recently ho had learned that the Rev. Klliott had made statements about hi., lute Kistcr,_ a nun, who was drowned at Taumarunui a roar ago. lie said he had decided to thrash Klliott, and, armed with a cowhide horsewhip. had waited for him. Klliott. was struck on the side of the head and fare. Tin,' two accused were liberated on hail, and will appear in the Police Court in the morning, when it is understood they will ask for a, remand.
