Mr Passey also spoke u- few words in eulogy of the lad in khaki. Altogether the evening was a- very happy one. and another link in the chain of farewells; given to our departing soldier boys. We missed the presence, so prominent on such '.occasion's, of Mr (A X. Cowan who, with his family, has left tho valley and taken up his i evidence near Palmerston North, lie was always tho prime mover in any patriotic affair, besides a generous donor. Mr Wagp-taff war. also unable to Iks present, ■t.-t he was in Wellington seeing the last of his son, who is by now on hi.-; way to the front. 1 must thank nil those who helped with tho work of decorating the hail, and the most excellent supper provided. The work of erecting nn addition to our local creamery is . nearing completion, and the casein so long talked of will become a real fact early in November. The valley is looking remarkably wel! just rov.’, itnd the prospects for the coming season are -very good. We we .(.-orry indeed that Mr WilLs-is no bettor, and has been taken to a private, hospital, but where there i.-t life there is hope. Ilia family have our whole-hearted sympathy with their trouble.
