EDUCATION BOARD.

The Wanganui Education Board met on Wednesday night. Present: Messrs Fred Pirani (chairman), Christie, Hemingway, Mclntyre, Broad. Bryant, Joblin, Scwell, Collins and Fraser. SYMPATHY. A resolution of sympathy was passed to the relatives of Mr H. A. Malcolm, who was in tho employ of the Board at the time of his death. The Board also expressed its sympathy with Mr W. H. Swanger, tho secretary, who recently underwent a serious ' operation. In wishing Mr Swanger a speedy recovery, the Board recognised that the cause of his illness was mainly his devotion to the Board's 01 A PALMERSTON REQUEST. The assistant-director of Education wrote commending tho Board for tho way Dominion Day had been celebrated in 'the district, by having the day a work confined to the topics connected with the history and industries of tho Dominion. The communication added: "It was highly creditable to all concerned." It was decided to call tenders for tho Victoria Avenue School alterations work, a subsidy being available to meet the voluntary contributions.
