THE MONEY MARKET.
In our last issue we anticipated that the Bank returns would exhibit an ample supply of funds in hand, and this is the case in a most market! degree, as the following comparison of deposits and advances shows : March 1915 Dec. 1914 March 1914 Deposits £26,829,240 £24,403,100 £24,030,250 Advances 23,740,562 24,932,809 23.666,750 Excess of deposits £3,088,678 - £363,500 Excess of advances The change in the position in the last three months amounts to an improvement of £3.618,387. as compared with an improvement of £1,365.614 in the coresponding period of a year ago. This position arises chiefly from the tremendous increase in the value of our exports this season. The above figures give ample evidence that there is abundance of funds for all ordinary requirements for the present, and we anticipate that the supply will remain at a satisfactory level for some months.—N.Z.
