MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

(Before Mr J. W. Poynton. S.M.) INEBRIETY. Influenza was pleaded at the Magistrate's Court, this morning by counsel (Mr Jacobs) as an excuse for George Hudson Innng found on licensed premises, he being a prohibited person. "Influenza ought not to be allowed to blur his memory,' said the Magistrate. Mr J. W. Poynton, who warned defendant that, next time ho would be sent to Rotoroa for twelve months. He was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. Annie Peat, a third offender for drunkenness, was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment. Thomae Mills, an inmate of the Old People's Home, was charged with a second offence for drunkenness, and was fined 10s and costs. ALLEGED FAILURE TO MAINTAIN.

Vangelo Lurgaud, a Greek, was charged with failing to maintain his wife at Hawera, and was remanded to appear at. that place on May 6th. bail in £lO being allowed. BY-LAW BREACHES. A lady offender was charged with crossing the railway in front of an approaching train. Her excuse was that her hat blow over her eyes, and she did not see the train. A fine of 10s and costs 7s was imposed. John William Milner, taxi-cab driver, charged with leaving his motor car standing in Rangitikei street without a light. between the hours of sunrise and.sunset, wa~s lined 10s and costs 7s. ALLEGED BESTIALITY. James Forstcr, on a charge of bcastiality. was remanded to appear to-morrow. DOMESTIC INFELICITY. Gertrude McEwan applied for a separation order from her husband, Andrew McEwan. on the grounds of failure to maintain. His Worship adjourned the case rill 31st May to see if the parties could come to an agreement.

STRAYING STOCK. Petersen (Mr Cooper) proceeded against U. R. Scott. <>f Aokautcre, for allowing horses to wander on the road. Defendant did not appear and was lined £3 ami ousts 275, with solicitor'*, fee, £1 Is. IMPOUNDING CASES. Judgment was given in the case in which 11. Gifford Moore (Mr Baldwin) proceeded against E. Devon port (Mr Cooper) alleging that the latter had illegally impounded complainant's horses and charged excessive impounding feos. In the first case )m Worship ordered defendant to pay costs, 9s, and in the second a refund was ordered, with costs, 7s. and solicitor's f<<\ 21s.
