FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
The ordinary fortnightly meeting of Court Manawatu, A.OjF., was held last evening, G.R. Bro. f\ Marshall presiding. It was decided to enter a team for the cribbage tournament, and a committee was set up to select players. The retiring Chief Ranger, Bro. H. Rolfe, is to be presented with the usual ribbon and a framed diploma. One candidate was initiated and one proposed for membership. A motioh of sympathy was passed with Bro. A. Pickering in his recent bereavement, and the secretary was instructed to forward a letter expressing the Court's feeling. A letter was read frohi the North Holland District conveying an appeal for funds for the relief of brethren suffering from the effects of the War. The Court voted £2 2s in response. This is a typical in&tanCe of how world-wide the union of members of Friendly Societies is.
