AFTER THE CARNIVAL.
CREDIT BALANCE OVER £7OO. DIVISION OF THE PROCEEDS. A meeting of the Carnival Committee was held at the secretary's office last night, the Mayor, Mr J. A. Nash, presiding over & good attendance. All accounts in connection with the recent qarnival were passed for payment, and it MJ •'" i# estimated that after these have been met there will be a credit balance of over £7OO. The treasurer reported that up to yesterday £IOO7 6s 7d had been banked in connection with the carnival. The question of dividing the surplus money was discussed, and it was apportioned as follows:—District Nurse fund, £4O; Children's Home, £2O; £5 to each of the unsuccessful Queen candidates. The balance is to be divided between the Orchestral Society and the Band. It was unanimously decided to vote £SO to Mr H. K. Swallow in recognition of his services as secretary and organiser during the carnival, several members speaking in the highest terms of the very creditable manner in which he had carried out hia duties. Votes of thanks were passed to all who had assisted to make the carnival a success and to the chairman of the committee (Mr J. A. Nash). Mr R. H. Spencer was appointed to audit the accounts, and as soon as this is done the final meeting of the committee will be held.
