The woman whs in a semiconscious condition, and Dr Elliott was summoned. He found that both were suffering from shock and from their immersion in tho water They wero given first aid and were subsequently conveyed to their home. Had it not been for the fact that a man happened to be passing alon- tho road the Maoris would most certainly have been drowned, as there is only one house in tho immediate vicinity and the accident would probably have been unnoticed until it was takes place at tho firm's rooms, June 11th, too late to savo them.
