Lewis, the jockey who rode the winner, Audacity, and who had also ridden him earlier in tho afternon in tho Goodwood Handicap, wherein he ran nowhere. The Derby stand patrons swarmed in and attempted to mob Lewis. The police and the course attendants surrounded Lewis and escorted h'.m to the dressing-room, amidst showers of abusive epithets.
