At the Court to-day John Kennedy, a fishmonger, was Rued £3O for nly grog-selling. The police ,sent'un informer to Kennedy's shop with marked coins and a £1 cote, and made a raid t.n tlie. premises a few minutes after the purchase <>i liquor lijd Imm-ti made. The defence w is that the money was paid by the informer on account of a bettiu gtratisaction. The Magistrate .said he had no doubt that the- money was paid for liquor. He allowed the defendant a fortnight iti which to pay tho line, but said sly-grogging need expect no mercy from the Court.
