Hurley presided over the meeting held at the Empire Hotel last night to. further arrange details in connection, with tho visit, of tho Homo Rule envoys to Palmerston next'week, Mr Devinc reported that the Mayor would receive the visitors at the railway station on behalf of the town, and it was decided to ask Mr Buiek, M.P., to do so on. behalf of the districtSubscription lists have been sent all over the district, and arc meeting with satisfactory response. It was stated that the Foxton people would, go to Shannon, where there was to bo a meeting of tho delegates. The Chairman remarked that he had heard. Mr Hazleton, M.P., speak in Wellington, and had been greatly im-. pressed by his quiet, effective delivery, his marshalling of salient features, and generally his grip of the subject. Dr. Cahill had informed him (Mr Hurley) that it was ■expected the Wellington subscriptions would total £IOOO. Dr. O'Brien also mentioned that ho had met the delegates at tho dinner given to them at the Wellington Club._ •V letter was read from Mr Martin Kennedy stating that it had been decided that Mr Hazelton should speak at Masterton, Hastings (to-day), Taradalo (Monday), and reach Palmerston on Wed. nesday, and sneak that night at the Empire Hall, "and at Shannon on the 12th or 13th. Messrs Redmond, M.P., and Donovan, L.L.8., would proceed to New Plymouth. Messrs Hurley, McNab, and Dr. O'Brien will move the various resolutions at the Palmerston meeting.
