A MYSTERIOUS HAND.

Yesterday officers watching a Malay loitering on the wharf 6aw a hand containing a tin of opium thrust through an opening in tho planks. An officer took the tin. The ■ mysterious hand kept appearing till fdrty-two tins were handed up. Then ifo owner of the hand under the wharf became suspicious and jumped into the harbour, thus escaping the law.
