Mr Gerald Crowth, Inspector of Mines, states that it is impossible for -the electrical coal cutter to have caused the explosion as the electricity was disconnected at the time of-the disaster. He had satisfied himself that electricity must be eliminated, from the, possible causes of tho disaster. ■■■ <. oc _... ■. Th relief funds aggregate £57,501, including Manchester's contribution, of £13,000 and £12,900 from Liverpool. Sir Geo. Reid has forwarded the Commonwealth's donation of £2000. - Tho Daily News, commenting thereon, says this is a signal exhibition of brotherly feeling arid will strengtheirthe ties binding Great Britain and Colonies in the Far South.
